How WiseFin uses on-device machine learning and generative AI, what data is involved, and the limits of those features.

1. Features that use AI or ML

Transaction classification (Android): Google ML Kit GenAI Prompt API / Gemini Nano may suggest shortened merchant names and category IDs from transaction descriptions and your category list.

Text recognition (Android): Google ML Kit Text Recognition can extract text from images or documents when that flow is enabled.

Statement import: PDF/CSV parsing uses rule-based parsers on your device. That is automation, not generative AI, but it can still misread data. The statement file is discarded after extraction; only rows you confirm are saved.

2. What is sent to the model

For classification batches, the prompt includes transaction type, description (merchant/memo text), and category names and IDs. We do not intend to send your PIN, Google password, or raw PDF bytes to Gemini.

The ML Kit GenAI Prompt API is designed for on-device Gemini Nano. Google may need to download the on-device model. Processing stays on device when the API operates in on-device mode. If Google's implementation or your device falls back or logs diagnostics, Google's ML Kit terms apply.

3. Limits and your review duty

AI output can be wrong, biased, or incomplete. Suggested categories are not financial advice. You must review imports and classifications before relying on them.

We do not use your ledger to train a WiseFin-owned foundation model. We do not sell prompts or transaction text.

4. Control

You choose which files to import. You can edit or delete transactions and categories. If you do not want on-device generative classification, do not use flows that invoke it and contact us if you need a future in-app toggle.
